The Revised Poster (of love)
First off, thank you all for the comments about this poster. I myself am truly encouraged by the response that it got and the discussions that it started. One thing that was pointed out is that it was too one sided, seemed like a hate list and could be read like that. When I created it that was not my intent nor did I see that. But in retrospect I can see how it could easy be read as such, so I revised the poster some. I did not change much, but what was changed I think solves that problem. I added “Televangelists” and “Republicans”. I want to point out that we are ALL SINNERS in need of Gods perfect grace. And we are called to LOVE ALL people, not just the ones that look good. The homosexual and republican should be treated with the same grace as God has given us.
Here is the link for the new poster. Pass this around, print it out, and start change now!

NICE! Love seeing this used in different/creative ways. Keep up posted on what happens with it.
I like the idea but I think two things:
The “because christ first loved me” needs to be in red, or more prominent - because the words above it are so harsh. I Think - to a christian audience, this poster would cause people to read right through it almost in annoyance, or indignance, but to a secular audience, it would make people want to stop reading almost immediately, feeling that it was another piece of bigoted conservative propaganda. Gotta give people a reason to keep reading to the end.
I focus grouped it with some people I know who are non-christians and they all thought it unreasonably harsh, although admittedly that is the purpose here. One person said that it appeared to make people question their language use - but then uses the language to the same effect.
stylistically I Think that it would look neat if the large words on top were different shades of the same colour. One of my friends suggested putting it on a t-shirt!
The reason that went with gray is only for cost. I wanted this to be easy and cheap to reproduce, and red would require 4 color printing. Black and white can be done anywhere and is easy for anyone to handle. I know some people have taken this art and converted it to red, and I agree that would look better.
The purpose was to make people think, and really pointed at christians. And yes the words are harsh, because that is how people think of other groups different then them, at least I know I do at times. It is a reminder to all.
And I know one person who is make shirts of this now. I will let you know how they turn out.
Sweet Lord this is just incredible. I just can’t bring myself to criticize this it’s just incredible! Thank you for this.
Dig it as well. I’ll make sure to post an update.
First, let me say I really love what you are doing with this. All of your graphics are awesome.
I know you have already revised this one time, so I hope you don;t mind me offering one other perspective.
The difficulty with your additions of “Televangelist” and “Republicans” is that these, in and of themselves, are not sin. For example. telling a lie is sinful, sexual perversion is a sin, but being a republican is not a sin.
Televangelist does come a lot closer to the mark, but still… it is not in and of itself a sin.
Also, being a bum is not a sin either, but theft is a sin.
Then again… there is maybe enough diversity in the list that it makes sense. Oh well, now I am rambling.
Either way, I still love what you are doing!
Whoa…. So I found this by accident. Thanks, internet. Um…. I guess maybe your blog is for all the hip, young Christians or something. Your poster, frankly, confuses me. I couldn’t help but notice that you’ve put the homos up there on your hate list. I’d surely think that the hip, young Christians aren’t as ignorant as their flashy counterparts on TBN and whatnot. If, indeed, this is the case, I strongly urge you to reevaluate your beliefs. This sort of antiquated thinking (ie- “homo-SIN-u-ality is a CHOICE and god don’t like it”) really doesn’t do anyone any good. Then again, perhaps I am misunderstanding, which I certainly hope is the case. I’d feel better about the world if Christians weren’t constantly reaffirming my thoughts that they really ARE ignorant, hateful jerks.
Excellent work! Will be posting it on my blog soon.
