Not Art. Submission 12.

August 29th, 2008

I usually post these on Monday, but that is a holiday, and I want my computer to stay locked up. So today is your weekly dose of Not Art. This poster hits one of our favorite verses, dealing with loving your enemy. Now this art has been used before, but it’s been re-mixed. I wanted to show America’s public enemy number one, and Christ’s sacrifice together. We need to remember that in the eyes of God our sins are the same as Bin Laben’s, and the blood of Christ can forgive them all.

Strange Creatures

August 27th, 2008

Jennifer Maestre is a sculptor, but her medium is of a different kind. Starting her art career late, at 30, Jennifer was trained in glass, but ended up with pencils. I am mesmerized by her works of art. She can take the most common, overlooked item, and turn it into something that is beautiful. And how true is that in our lives? God has given each of us a gift. That gift might be the most plain boring thing, but he calls us to make it something beautiful for Him.

Making fun of Christianity

August 26th, 2008

I found this on Digg this morning, and it really made me sad. Not so much because it is poking fun at Christianity, but because of the amount of comments that it had. We need to remember that what we believe is foolishness to the world. I cannot argue what is being said here, all I can do is pray that God will open up the eyes of those who do not understand His grace.

Here are some of the comments:

“What a load of crap! Everybody knows that the Flying Spaghetti Monster is the only true answer that makes sense.”

“Beware the vampire jesus… he gave his blood for your sins… now he wants it back.”

“I died for all of your digging sins. now bury me, children, so i may be resurrected in the near future.”

“I believe that there is a creator but not a religious one, he may even be an alien, there’s too much to discover. there’s a very very big picture out there.”

We need to remember that all of us at one point did not believe in Christ. Pray for these people that God may give them faith.

Not Art. Submission 11.

August 25th, 2008

When Jesus called us to be “the salt of the earth,” and “the light of the world,”  he called us to look, feels, taste, and be different than everything else on this earth. The fact that we’re eternally joined to the King of the universe means we are to be totally unique and dramatically different from all others. Just how salt and light profoundly change the taste and appearance of everything they contact, so God’s life in and through us makes a difference in every life we touch. Taste the rainbow.

Jay Baker Supermodel

August 19th, 2008

I just got the new Wired magazine and found this ad 13 pages into it. Now I don’t know too much about Jay Baker, I have seen part of One Punk Under God, and what I saw I liked. But what I love about this ad is that the bible is being shown, and it is really the focus of the ad. I love that the ad is for Kenneth Cole, a clothing company, but the question that’s raised is, why is this guy holding a bible. If we have a opportunity to do something big, lets point to God when doing it.
