    I will start this out.

2 Corinthians 12:9: But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

This verse is a reminder to me that God is sovereign in all aspects of my life, even the hard times. I should not rest on anything other than Christ for my strength. In order for me to be strong in the Lord, I must be weak in the flesh. It breaks down all my pride, and encourages me at the same time.

    Matthew 10:28-31
28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

This is my favorite verse because it always reminds me that I am incredibly important to God and i am not just another face in the crowd.

    Psalm 63:8
My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

This is one of the rare instances that I prefer the KJV. This verse has meant a lot to me since I read the book ‘God Chasers’ by Tommy Tenney in high school.

I love the imagery of our very souls in hot pursuit after our creator, following hard.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about Micah 6:8 - “What has the Lord required of you? Is it not to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God?”

That verse has been messing me up lately because I think to myself, do I really act and fight for justice? Or do I just write about it? I want to be a person of action and make a difference in my world.

    Cool buttons by the way.

    Matthew 5.16

Let your light shine before men so that they can se your good works and in turn glorify your Father who is in heaven.

This is a constant reminder to me that each eand everyone of us is to be a beacon of hope in this world. That my actions do often speak louder than my words and it is what man will see in me that will often turn people to Christ.

1 John 4:12 - “No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”

To me this verse paints a beautiful picture of how following the second greatest command brings about the fullest expression of God’s love, and leads to the feeling of oneness with our creator that our souls crave. It inspires me to love more deeply that the Kingdom would be revealed here and now.

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Galatians 6:9

This has been speaking to me for weeks, because I’m just so tired anymore. Physically due to an injury, spiritually because this has been a hard season, and emotionally because of everything going on. But I know I have to just keep going… keep pressing in to God, don’t be discouraged… I WILL reap what God has for me.

I know this… and I remind myself of this every day anymore…

Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

    Philippines 3:13-14

“Press on” has been an encouragement amongst my friends for years after finding this verse. Knowing that we are not complete and that we are broken without Jesus; that he is our ultimate goal… it means I can’t give up when I am faced with a difficulty. It means I can’t look back on mistakes but rather look forward. It is also very optimistic. I like that. And I love Paul’s letters. That is all.

    1 Corinthians 13:2
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

Every time I read this verse my heart sinks deep in my chest. Not in a sad way but in a humbling way. Christ’s message is so simple: love God and love people. So often I let my “spiritual gifts” steal the spotlight and guide my path while the one thing that is paramount to my relationship with Christ is left in the dust. I may be strong, I may be trustworthy, I may be smart, I may be driven, but without love, I am nothing.

Isaiah 40: 28-31 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

This verse has stuck with me for a very long time. It has always been an encouraging verse for me whenever things get hard or I just want to give up on something that is challenging. If i just keep this faith that I have grown to have in God, then you know what, things will be okay, He will give me the strength I need.
    thanks.

    John 10:10b

“…I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” - Jesus

Jesus didn’t come to give us a boring life, a sour life, a crappy life… He came to give us a full, incredible, awesome life experience.

If my Christianity is dull, boring, sour, bitter, shallow, selfish… than “I’m playing the game wrong”.

    For me it’s Matthew 13:44

“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”

I look at my life and I wonder, what am I holding back? What would I not willingly give up with joy to pursue God? It’s a really challenging verse for me, and when I heard it first at the Passion Conference in 2007 it changed my life. I’d only been a Christian for about a year and it really catalyzed me towards a fully devoted relationship with God.

    My life verse: John 15:5

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

It was the verse I chose when I was confirmed in 8th grade, then happened to be the scheduled reading when I was installed as the Youth Pastor at my first church, then again when I was installed at my 2nd. It’s a constant reminder that we’re effective in ministry only so long as we’re connected to Christ.

My best friend was having some problems and God gave me an opportunity to help by referencing Matthew 17:20. It’s a favorite verse of his and it gave me unbelievable joy to witness the effect it had on him and his trial. Below is a portion of the email.

As for the crap that you’re going thru… Well, I can only suggest this because it’s not me going through it. Do your best to dig down deep and try to find some compassion. Not because anyone has done anything to deserve it, but because it’s all that you can do. Don’t be in a position to let them drag you down with them, but position yourself to do all you can to be lifting them up from below. You’re the one with faith and I just read last Wednesday that “I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” You can’t change who people are. All you can do is continue to give them opportunities to understand that what we covet here on earth is not what’s important. Keep that in mind when you’re dealing with the situation and it should help you as well.

    Good luck my friend.

Thank you for the chance to share my story and to be inspired by the stories of others.

    Proverbs 30:8
Remove me far from vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:

Do I focus too much on living comfotably and saving for the future? Should I be giving a greater percentage of my income to church and missionaries?
    food for thought

Hebrews 11:38a - “…of whom the world was not worthy…”

what would it be like to be known as a man whom the world was not worthy of? that is what i desire. my life has been influenced by men who i feel are to good for this world to have. men who love jesus with everything that is within them. men who dont negotiate scripture. men who have done great things for christ. that is what i want. that is what i desire. to make an impact, and to not be credited with this impact until after God has called me home.

    now pick me!
    hehe

2 Kings 4:40 - when you speak with people who have seriously abused drugs, you really wish someone told them that there was death in the pot earlier!
